Our school has been working in partnership with the London PE and School Sports Network to deliver a health and wellbeing programme taking place in primary schools across Southwark.
The programme is a one-day session delivered through PE and practical activities to help students understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle and to combat obesity levels in the borough. Currently, Southwark has some of the highest rates of obesity in Britain with 43% of children in year 6 leaving school obese.
The programme focuses on the Eatwell Guide, food groups, energy balance, food labels, healthy eating targets, active targets and pulse rates.
As your child has taken part in the programme during the school day, we invite parents to attend a parent nutrition workshop in school on Friday 29th at 3.45pm – 4.45pm. If possible, children can attend to show parents what they have learnt on the programme.
All parents are invited to attend the nutrition workshop as we feel this is an essential part of the programme will help the children to continue with their healthy eating and active lifestyles.
