English Martyrs’ Catholic Primary School in Walworth have been very busy since the beginning of Advent collecting food donations for the local community. It is something the school do every year but this year it seems more important to the children as their own community has been hit so badly by Covid 19. With even more donations, than previous years, pupils and staff have gone beyond their wildest expectations. So much more was received by the children that not only were they able to donate important essentials to the local church food ban, they were able to make much needed support hampers to the elderly in their community.
Mrs Philomena O’Gorman, who until recently volunteered at the food bank in English Martyrs’ church hall, said it was a much needed boost for the elderly to know they are not forgotten at this time of year when we reflect on the importance of family, friendship and community.
We are so proud of all our pupils, parents and staff for their kind donations, a special thank you to Ms Mead, Ms Terry and Ms Maria for their hard work putting this together.
English Martyrs is a ‘GOOD’ school – March 2020 Ofsted and currently have vacancies for children in all year groups to start immediately.
A very special thank you to Iceland at Camberwell, Tesco at Old Kent Road and Morrisons on Walworth Road for their kind donations.
